​What is The Sankofa MLE?
The Sankofa Men's Leadership Exchange is a network of men of color working together to create a positive narrative of the black community.
"We must go back and reclaim our past so we can move forward; so we understand why and how we came to be who we are today"
The Sankofa Men's Leadership Exchange is NOT a codified organization, but derives its value from the collective efforts of collaboration.
​What is our Mission?
The Sankofa Men’s Leadership Exchange crafted the following Mission Statement:
“As men of color we pro-actively develop and provide access to a sufficient level of advocacy on issues that affect our community. This is done by understanding and reclaiming our past, empowering us to move forward."
​What does Sankofa mean?
SANKOFA is an Akan word that means to "reach back and get it" (San - to return; ko - to go; fa - to look, to seek and take). It also refers to the Asante Adinkra symbol of a bird with its head turned backwards taking an egg off its back.
